Join us for the 2026 MMS State Fair Display
Each year, the MMS assembles an impressive display of mushrooms and mushroom-related information to share with the visitors of the Great Minnesota Get-Together! It is the time of year when the largest number of new members join our club, thanks to the friendly volunteers they meet at our display. It takes many people to put this display together. We need your help to make this year’s display on medicinal mushrooms look fantastic!
How can you help?
- Help set up the display the day before the Fair opens. It is fun to get a behind-the-scenes look at the magic behind the fair! The setup day is Wednesday, August 26th. It starts at 9:30 AM and is done at around 2:30 PM.
- Help take down the display on Friday, August 28th. Tear-down starts at 9 PM and takes no more than an hour of quick packing and cleanup. Tear-down volunteers receive a free entrance ticket good for the full day, so you can enjoy the fair and simply meet us at the Horticultural Building at 9 PM.
- During the first two days of the fair, you can work a 3-hour shift at the display. It is a lot of fun telling people about mushrooms, and you will be amazed by all you know. And if you can’t answer a question, there will be someone there who can help. If you work one of these shifts, you will get a free entrance ticket to the fair for that day.
- Do you have a covered, secure truck or trailer? We need someone to pick up display items from the fairgrounds on Friday, August 28th at 9 PM and deliver them to our storage unit the next morning.

We Need Mushrooms!
They are the stars of the show. We will have four drop-off points around the Twin Cities where you can drop off your high-quality mushrooms for the display on Monday, August 24th, and Tuesday, August 25th. And you can always drop off mushrooms at the fairgrounds (Horticultural Building) on the morning of set-up.
