An introduction to the wild, weird, and wonderful world of mushrooms and fungi
Our April member meeting will feature speaker Dr. Gordon Walker remotely via Zoom
Dr. Walker is a mycologist, science communicator, and educator known for making fungal science approachable without sacrificing rigor. He holds a Ph.D. and is the creator of Fascinated by Fungi, a widely followed platform dedicated to fungal education, fermentation, and foraging.
His new book, Passport to Kingdom Fungi, is quickly becoming a go-to reference for people interested in mushrooms and fungi. Designed to be both comprehensive and accessible, it introduces readers to fungal biology, classification, and ecology while grounding the science in real-world examples.

In this talk, Dr. Walker will offer an engaging overview of the incredible diversity of fungi. He will explore the many forms fungi take, the unexpected ways they live, and how they shape ecosystems and human life. The presentation will also cover a wide range of edible, toxic, functional, and dye mushrooms, tying together foundational concepts with practical knowledge.
We look forward to learning alongside Dr. Walker and continuing to deepen our collective understanding of the fungal kingdom.
This meeting is free and open to the public. Presentations are recorded and posted on the MMS YouTube channel. Members receive Zoom links on meeting announcements and reminders. Anyone can click the button below to provide their contact info and receive the Zoom link for this meeting.
