This April member meeting will feature speakers John Lamprecht, Peter Martignacco and Ron Spinosa remotely via Zoom
Our speakers for tonight use their combined 100+ years of mushroom foraging experience to present tips and tricks of the trade to introduce you to the spring mushrooms that will be popping up soon, and get you prepared for a successful morel season!

John Lamprecht has more than 40 years of experience as a mushroom forager, all of it since marrying into a forager family. John is a past president of the MMS, having retired from the position in 2019 after 6 years. He remains active as the current chair of the Finance and Membership Committee, is our certification class administrator and instructor, a foray leader and educator, and a member of three other mycological societies.
Peter Martignacco joined the MMS board of directors as President in 2022 and has been an active MMS member for 20+ years. He has been an active leader at forays and often helped in pre-scouting foray sites. Peter has also been a volunteer at our annual State Fair Display and has played a pivotal role in foraging legislations. He has worked closely with many of our board members, past and present, in field foraging and at MMS events, and enjoys making connections with others across the upper Midwest myco community.
Ron Spinosa has been a member of MMS for over 30 years, is a past president, and is the former Chair of the Education Committee. He is one of the club’s key mushroom identifiers and received the MMS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. He has been a NAMA member and Cultivation Committee Chair for many of those years, and is the winner of their Knighton Service Award in 2011.
