Edible wild mushroom ID certification class
Registration is now open for one of our two mushroom ID certification classes. This class will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 – noon to 5 pm. The MMS conducts two mushroom certification classes annually for edible mushroom foraging. This class covers early season species: Morels, Chanterelles, Black Trumpet, and Sulphur Shelf; and the second covers late season species: Lobster Fungus, Hedgehog, Hericium species, Giant Puffball, and Hen of the Woods. This certification is required to sell wild mushrooms to food establishments in Minnesota (see MDA’s wild mushroom foraging page for more info).
Space is limited to 50 attendees so get your registration in soon! To learn more and register online for the class, go to Certified Wild Mushroom Harvester (class I). Registration will close at the end of Friday, February 11, 2022.
If you are only interested in safely identifying common edible mushrooms for your own personal consumption, an MMS membership provides plenty of opportunities to learn at club forays, meetings, and other events.
