John Lamprecht

John Lamprecht

About John:
“I have more than 40 years of experience as a mushroom forager, all of it since marrying in to a forager family…my wife, Claudette, has foraged since the age of 3 in her northeast Iowa home area. We have hunted mushrooms in many areas of the US –much of the upper Midwest and Missouri, Pacific Northwest, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Maine, New York and the Mid-Atlantic region, Blue Ridge Mountains and Arizona as well as having hunted mushrooms in Germany as guests of a mushroom certification school and on vacation in Australia and Italy. I am a past president of the MMS having retired in 2019 from my position after 6 years. I remain active as MMS membership coordinator, certification class administrator and instructor and Past President as well as a member of three other mycological societies.

Michael Herrick

About Michael:
“I have been interested in foraging and eating wild mushrooms since I was 4 years old. At this tender age I was already tasting mushrooms in the back yard. My parents, in a panic, took me to the emergency room and had my stomach pumped. I have never looked back. Very few people will hunt Morels with me more than once. It has been described as a death march. Last year I drove a thousand miles hunting morels. My interest in Morels has been described by my significant other as a borderline personality disorder.”

Mike is a longtime member of MMS, former board member, and MMS Certification Instructor for Morel module. He is the 2019 Golden Chanterelle award winner and an accomplished woodsmen.
