Annual Summer Picnic Meeting
Our July meeting will be a members-only event at William O’Brien State Park. This event will provide information on identification of summer fungi, what you will face during summer forays in Minnesota, and a chance to meet socially with other members of the MMS and some of our board. A Minnesota State Parks vehicle permit is required to park at all state parks and recreation areas. You can purchase both annual and daily permits online or at the park office.
MMS will provide picnic fare: hot dogs (meat and vegetarian options) chips, watermelon and beverages; please bring your own water bottle or reusable cup. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park. The picnic will be open house style between 5 and 7 pm. The info portion will start at about 7:00 PM. Participants are also welcome to bring a few personal specimens they have found for ID assistance, but anything brought in must NOT be left at the park.
Directions: The park is located 12 miles north of Stillwater, just north of the town of Marine on St. Croix. The park entrance is located right on State Highway 95. After turning onto the park road, the ranger station is immediately on your right. Meet at the picnic shelter overlooking Lake Alice. Google directions to the parking lot by the shelter.
