Attention members! We are accepting nominations for both open Board positions for 2023 and our annual Golden Chanterelle Award.  The deadline for accepting nominations is Tuesday, November 15th.

Open 2023 MMS Board Positions

We have three positions of 2-year terms that are up for election for next year’s MMS Board: Treasurer, Recording Secretary and one of the two Member-at-Large positions.

Anyone interested (including incumbent officers) in being on the ballot should contact either Peter Martignacco or John Lamprecht.  All nominations must be received by Tuesday, November 15th. Your name will be included on the ballot to be sent out to members in November. Be sure to include a little information about your interest and your past activities with the MMS, which we may include on the ballot. If you have any questions about any position, feel free to contact Peter or John. The positions listed below are the current positions up for election:

  • Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary takes minutes at all meetings and maintains the files of the minutes.
  • Treasurer: The Treasurer handles the Society’s funds, maintains financial records and makes reports to the membership at the annual business meeting.
  • Members-at-Large (1): Members-at-Large participate in all board meetings and assist in ways mutually agreed upon with the President.

The Board meets by Zoom, about once every month. The position of Treasurer is especially critical for the operation of our club.  If you think you can help, please consider running for this position.

Golden Chanterelle Award Nominees

Every year, we as members select one MMS member who has provided exceptional service to the MMS and local mycology. The winner receives our Golden Chanterelle Award and Traveling Trophy. This award can be won only once by any person.

E-mail your nominee for this award to John Lamprecht, along with a paragraph or two listing why this person is being nominated. All nominations must be received by Tuesday, November 15th. Be sure to include information to support your nominee. To avoid nominating a previous winner, click here for a list of past winners going back to 1991.

Members will vote online to select the award winner, who will be announced along with our photo contest winners at our annual banquet next February.
